The Paris-based Maison Ladurée bakery recently opened its second location in the United States—in New York City’s Soho neighborhood. The opening celebration coincided with New York Fashion Week and left many wondering whether the hybrid macaron shop/ full-service restaurant or the clothing designs were more beautiful.
The new shop features marble floors, hanging chandeliers, a cloudscape on the ceiling, massive statues, and heavy draping. The tables are designed for tea, and, of course, there are towers of macarons in all colors of the rainbow and every flavor imaginable, too.
Maison Ladurée’s first United States location opened back in August 2011 in New York City’s Upper East Side. Because of the bakery’s cult-like following, both locations experience continuously long lines.
