Honored by the Pittburgh Business Times as #6 in its list of the fastest-growing 100 area companies, 5 Generation Bakers, manufacturers of Jenny Lee Cinnamon Swirl Breads, posted a 241.82% revenue increase for the period January 2011 through December 2013.
The company was founded just over four years ago by Scott Baker, literally a 5th generation baker, with a single customer and today is available at over 3,000 retail outlets from New England to Missouri.
“We’ve been very fortunate,” Scott observed, “to have found and retained a very dedicated bakery staff, without which this growth could not have happened. We were equally lucky to have hired a very effective group of brokers to get our product out into the trade.”
“I personally,” he added, “have been blessed with a heritage of quality baking expertise and formulation knowledge from my dad, Bernie who works side-by-side with me.”
Jenny Lee Cinnamon Swirl Breads are all-natural, beginning with unbleached flour and contain no trans-fats or chemical preservative. They are shipped and stored frozen and merchandised through in-store supermarket bakeries and foodservice outlets.
Scott’s original goal of doubling revenue and production each year of operation has been more than met and the company is well on its way to a multi-million dollar increase for the 2014 fiscal year.
Design and planning for a new plant is in process and the company expects to move production there in early 2016.
