AIB International’s updated What You Need to Know About FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) guide is being offered as a free download via their Facebook page through February 8. AIB is committed to helping the industry establish FSMA-compliant food safety programs.
“We’ve updated this popular guide to reflect the most recent regulatory changes”, said Lance Reeve, director, Food Safety Services Innovation, AIB International. “Navigating the regulatory language of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is a daunting task. Our guide condenses the information and makes it easier for readers to understand the basis of FSMA’s sections, key dates, and industry responsibilities.”
In addition to the updated guide, AIB also just released their FSMA Readiness Assessment. “Other companies are offering self-guided FSMA assessments, but those can be difficult to navigate because they don’t include the face-to-face interaction of an expert explaining deficiencies and suggesting improvements,” said Reeve. “AIB’s FSMA Readiness Assessment goes beyond putting a checklist in our clients’ hands and wishing them well. Our trained experts perform a complete in-person assessment of existing plant programs and suggest updates to help bring them into compliance.”
FSMA, the first major overhaul of food safety legislation in more than 70 years, gives FDA the new job of building a modern, prevention-oriented food safety system suited for today’s globalized food supply. With new mandates and authorities come greater responsibilities, and many in the food industry are wondering where to begin to accomplish all that FSMA requires.
On the heels of its updated guide and new assessment service, AIB is unveiling its five-step plan to becoming a FSMA-ready facility with a fully compliant food safety program. The steps include: downloading the updated FSMA guide, registering for AIB’s FSMA Awareness Webinars, attending a FSMA: The Pathway to Compliance seminar, scheduling a FSMA Readiness Assessment, and consulting their experts for specific technical help.
