Since opening last October, Hannah House Bakery in Belington, West Virginia, has been making a name for itself in the local community. The bakery was recently featured by WBOY12 in the television station’s Restaurant Road Trip series.
Owner Crystal Hannah has been baking cakes for friends for years now. But when it became too much to work and bake, she made baking her work.
"We had thought about it for several years, and when the time came, we just took the plunge, and we decided this is what people are wanting. That way you don't have to go to the big places and buy a frozen cake," she says. "We are actually seeing people come back, and people are spreading the word and they love it," Hannah says.
Some of the Hannah House specialties include cinnamon rolls, foot-long hot dogs with chili, and fresh pepperoni rolls. All products from cakes to cupcakes to taco salads are done with only the freshest ingredients, according to the owners.
Where the bakery really stands out is how it reaches out. Every weekday, four women leave Belington to travel throughout four counties, delivering lunches to area businesses, and when they stop, it's an event for the whole building.
Hannah House Bakery was founded in late 2014 by Ron and Crystal "Crissy" Hannah of Belington. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, the bakery serves north central West Virginia.
