London’s Royal Garden Hotel, begins its yearlong 50th anniversary celebrations in September, commemorating fifty years of “Golden Moments” as an iconic hotel in Kensington. To celebrate the milestone, the hotel unveiled a giant Golden Moments cupcake for National Cupcake Week, which runs September 14-20.
Created by the award-winning executive head chef Steve Munkley and executive pastry chef Nicholas Hollands, the confectionary masterpiece brings to life the hotel's golden moments from the last half a century - from its sporting and music heritage to the celebratory book and branded taxi especially commissioned to mark this milestone.
This Golden Moments cupcake has inspired the pastry kitchen to also create a smaller limited edition 50th cupcake to be served with the traditional afternoon tea offering. The cupcake design will be voted for by followers of the hotel on social media during cupcake week and will be available from 28th September throughout the hotel's anniversary year until 31st July 2016, in addition to the usual delectable selection of fancies and sandwiches.
This symbolic limited edition cupcake will also be used throughout the year for guests and fans of the hotel to be part of the celebrations, including the opportunity for one lucky afternoon tea diner to win an amazing prize every month. Loyal fans can also be part of the celebrations and have the chance to win an afternoon tea experience through Facebook and Twitter competitions; all they have to do is guess the correct location of where the cupcake is hidden around Kensington.
Munkley comments: "We are delighted to present the Golden Moments cupcake to mark what is promising to be a very exciting year for the hotel. We are taking the opportunity to celebrate our 50th anniversary and thank our guests over the course of the year with the introduction of a limited edition 50th cupcake."
