During one of the busiest shopping days of the year, Pillsbury encouraged mall-goers to put down their shopping lists and participate in a family-fun holiday tradition – decorating cookies. This past Saturday, Dec. 12, Pillsbury broke the Guinness World Records at Mall of America in Minneapolis for the “most cookies/biscuits iced in one hour,” icing 1,169 cookies making cookie-decorating history, along with creating some lasting holiday memories.
The record-breaking feat was held in celebration of the first ever National Cookie Decorating Day – which Pillsbury plans to honor annually on the second Saturday in December, as a day designated for families to get into the holiday spirit decorating cookies together. With the time crunch during the holiday season, Pillsbury makes it easy for parents to involve their kids in cookie decorating fun with refrigerated cookie dough, how-to cookie decorating videos and easy-to-follow recipes at www.pillsbury.com.
"We all know how quickly the holiday season can come and go with shopping lists, errands and full social calendars," said Michelle Peterson, Pillsbury's marketing director. "At Pillsbury, we decided to designate a day encouraging parents to have some holiday fun with their kids, decorating cookies and creating memories and traditions to last for years to come."
In preparation for the upcoming holidays, Pillsbury is inspiring parents to get creative this holiday season through their Cookie Countdown, releasing unique, fun and easy cookie recipes every day through Dec. 25, such as the festive Melted Snowmen Cookies and Santa's Belly Cookies, along with decorating tips and tricks.
