Emily Koehler of Hilbert, Wisconsin had her wish come true.
The young girl diagnosed with stage four medullary thyroid carcinoma in November of 2014 asked the Make-A-Wish Foundation for her own bakery.
She was surprised to find that her wish had been granted when it was revealed to her last Sunday. It is located in the basement of her home.
Emily’s love of baking has been cultivated over the past few years. She began baking with box mixes, her mother Hope Koehler says, and then began watching YouTube baking videos and experimenting with more complicated recipes.
This new bakery will allow her to continue producing sweets on a bigger scale.
Emily says that she will use her new bakery to bake treats, especially cupcakes, for events, benefits, fundraisers, and family and friends.
More than 60 businesses and community members donated time, energy, and resources to create Emily’s bakery, says Holly De Long, a volunteer wish granter at the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Emily certainly appreciates it. When asked what she thought of her new bakery, she replied, “It's awesome, it's amazing. I love it.”
