In the heart of Texas, you’ll find many things. Love of country, love of music, and especially love of food. Texans appreciate history and they appreciate small business. Those two things are combined in Naegelin’s Bakery, which has existed in the state since 1868 in the city of New Braunfels.
Almost 150 years old, Naegelin’s Bakery has outlasted many other bakeries in continuously operating in Texas. The fresh cookies, pastries, pies, and cakes from the family-run bakery are of historic proportions and a timeless quality. The Granzin family still uses recipes developed by the Naegelin family during more than a century of experimentation to get just the right ingredients.
The New Braunfels tourism board has placed special focus on this bakery, promoting it on their website, social media, and press releases.
The bakery is still famous for their strudels that Naegelin perfected years ago. The Granzin's have added terrific sausage kolaches to the menu of fruit filled ones. A popular favorite is the Lebkuche, a thick, rectangular brown cookie covered with pink frosting. They also make custom cakes for weddings, birthdays, and special occasions.
If your bakery has special historical significance in your community, you may want to contact your local tourism agency and let them know, so that they can promote your bakery and in turn promote local tourism.
