The world was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Gene Wilder, famous for his role as Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. In honor of the man and his career, people from all over have come up with creative ways to pay tribute.
In Australia, that means a very special food that Wonka himself would be pleased to see. Bar Luca in Sydney is running a special this week called the Beauregard Burger, a rainbow-colored entrée of pure imagination.
The burger consists of a tomato soup jelly, a beef patty, fried potatoes (instead of baked), blueberry onion jam, and their very own Wonka Sauce and popping cheese. The ingredients are an ode to the classic scene in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory in which Violet Beauregarde eats an experimental three-course dinner gum during the Wonka factory tour.
Bar Luca has stepped it up even further, promising that one meal per day up through Sunday the 11th will include a Golden Ticket that will entitle the lucky recipient to a mystery prize.
