Lobsters tails, or sfogliatelle, are shell-shaped filled pastries with origins dating back to the 17th century. Traditional versions of this pastry come with a flaky pastry shell that takes a few days to make and are usually filled with a plain cream.
The Cake Boss, Buddy Valastro, is coming up with a new version of this classic pastry. His unique take will be stuffed with cookies and cream filling and drizzled with glaze and crushed Oreos.
Buddy Valastro’s lobster tails will be featured at his 16 Carlo’s Bakery locations throughout the country, including his most recent opening in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and his next location in Houston, Texas. That one will open in the spring of 2017, and could be followed by future openings in such places as Orlando, Chicago, and Las Vegas among others.
Valastro and his team plan on coming up with a savory version of lobster tails soon.
