The cupcakes are black velvet made with Dutch process black cocoa. It is the company's darkest cupcake. "Our deepest, darkest, most chocolatey cake is back to pay homage to the total solar eclipse," the bakery says.

The eclipse cupcake will be available for a limited time, from August 19-21. Each cupcake is $3.95 or $45 for a dozen.

Sprinkles Cupcakes is no stranger to unique promotions. In June, the bakery ran a Willy Wonka-style promotion that featured golden tickets worth cash prizes stuffed inside of red velvet cupcakes.
